As we approach the NBA playoffs, one thing is for sure…There are no clear cut favorites! Everyone except probably San Antonio has been flaky at certain points during this season. No bash on the league , but its got something to do with this ridiculously condensed schedule.
Given the Spurs depth I would put my money on them to win the Western Conference. They are a fine mix of young and old, with a coach who is a complete realist who demands modesty from his players. Mid season acquisitions of Boris Diaw and Captain Jack will prove to push them over the hump. The Clipper’s remain the dark horse team in the playoffs however, watch out!
The Eastern conference is where the fun begins…Let’s just say the Knicks match up with the Heat in the first round. A Heat team , that barely even plays at full strength anymore! A team, that at this point in the season has lost 13 road games. A team, that will NOT beat the Knicks at the Garden. We all know that ‘Melo plays up to his competition, so when he is going up against LeBron, ALL bets are off…He steps it up! I have all the confidence in the world of Iman Shumpert to hold down D-Wade, Shump has grown into possibly the BEST on ball defender in the league….yeah, the BEST! Then with Chandler down low and all our fire power off the bench…is this not possible? I mean come on now, I see it going to 7 games but when it comes down to that….all they need to do is win 1 on the road. Who’s with me? Novak knocking down 3 after 3 to keep them in the game, using our deep bench to match the run and gun style that the Heat play….then with a minute to go and the game is close…it’s time for MELO VS. LEBRON! Melo, fakes right and sticks a 18 footer in LeBron’s face…Lebron comes down the floor and draws the foul…sinks both free throws. Then with the game on the line…#7 dribbles it out at the top of the key and pulls up for the 3, Just like he did to Luol Deng, and bang! The Knicks win!
That’s how it’s going to happen, hahaha.
So if that does happen…we carry our momentum righhhhht into the finals. We’re from New York, anything can happen here. Look at Linsanity…who would have ever thought? But it’s all about when the stars align , and with this team…I think it’s possible. With ‘Melo sitting firmly in the driver’s seat.
