The Road to Wrestlemania – Fan based card prediction

David Foster February 25, 2013 2

Hello all! My name is David. I am a new writer for Ultimate Sports Talk, more specifically, the pro wrestling section. I hope to rejuvenate the pro wrestling section here on the site, and I hope I am the guy to do it. As of watching Raw on 2-26-13, I start with a bit of a fun article. Wrestlemania predictions.

We all know about Wrestlemania by know. It is the cream of the crop. The king of kings (sorry Triple H). The biggest PPV of the year in all of wrestling. April 7, 2013 is the date that will feature this event for the 29th time. When it comes to Wrestlemania, usually it’s the time for WWE to step it up when it comes to booking matches. You match up the biggest stars. You get the celebrities. Basically, it is the not the type of PPV where you hold matches that are booked on the spot. It’s always kind of fun to sort of dream book your own Wrestlemania card. But for this article, I am going to look at the feuds that are going on in the WWE, and make a rough draft as to what the matches are going to look at.

There are two confirmed matches. The Rock (and if you haven’t been following the product for a few months……or years, yes I mean Dwayne the freaking Rock Johnson) is the current WWE champion. His opponent is John Cena, a result of his Royal Rumble victory. So that whole “Once in a Lifetime” package they were doing last year kind of just got forgotten. So in a Wrestlemania rematch, it will be John Cena vs The Rock. Their match last year wasn’t bad, so I expect this match to be better since Rock has wrestled some more. I expect Cena to win, because I can’t see him loosing twice to the Rock. Anyone but Cena.

Jack Swagger vs Alberto Del Rio for the World Heavyweight championship. Despite Swagger’s DUI and marijuana bust, WWE is getting a lot of publicity over Swagger and Zeb Colter’s American gimmick. So he’s safe. As to who would win, I suspect Del Rio will retain. Swagger may have avoided suspension, but he is NOT going to be rewarded.

A near complete lock is HHH vs Brock Lesnar. HHH returned and opened up a big gash on Lesnar’s head. It’d probably result in the final chapter of this series (although I could see a third match after Wrestlemania). I suspect HHH would win since Lesnar won the first match.

Now we have all these Champions without a match:

Wade Barrett – The Intercontinental Champion. His feud with Bo Dallas just kinda ended after Bo just stopped appearing. He looks to be enveloped in a feud with Sheamus, but since Sheamus is also feuding with the Shield. It remains to be seen which match Sheamus will be in.

Antonio Cesaro – The US Champion. He was feuding with the Miz, but the Miz has not interacted with Cesaro much after their title match at the Elimination Chamber. He’ll probably be in a multi man match. Sad but true.

Kaitlyn – The Divas champion. The history is there to do AJ vs Kaitlyn for the title, but they barely even put AJ in the ring. Layla teased jealousy over Kaitlyn being champion on Smackdown, so she might turn and challenge Kaitlyn. Might be the first women’s title match since WM 23. If not, the some celebrity stuff.

Hell No – And finally, our Tag Team Champions. To be short, they have been feuding with each other, not with others. No tag teams are legit enough to challenge for them except for Tensai and Brodus Clay. Or they might lose it before the show. Or a multi man match. Who knows?

So the champions aren’t even feuding with many people. Here are other names without a match:

The Undertaker needs an opponent. The biggest name without a match is CM Punk, and I expect for him to challenge so he can end the streak. He won’t of course, but it’s worth a shot!

The Shield is undefeated, and Vickie needs to find a team fast. Orton and Ryback I think are locks to face them. But as to the 3rd member, it can be either Sheamus or Jericho depending on the direction they want to go in.

Dolph Ziggler has been without any good booking for the past 2 months. He could fight Jericho, but I am not sure if he will booked on the show. He’ll still probably make an appearance *winks towards MITB briefcase*.

Big Show and Mark Henry – Two monsters. This illustrates the lack of depth.

In the end, we will have no idea. But this my card:

The Rock (c) vs John Cena – WWE Championship

Alberto Del Rio (c) vs Jack Swagger – WH Championship

Undertaker vs CM Punk – Streak match

The Shield vs Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, and Ryback – 6 man tag match

Wade Barrett (c) vs Sheamus – Maybe for the IC Championship

Kaitlyn (c) vs Layla (or AJ) – Divas Championship

Random Multi Man Match

Random Tag Title Match

At some point, I’ll return to the list and make adjustments/additions/corrections. I hope you all enjoyed my writing. Constructive criticism helps me be a better writer to entertain you all. I will be posting articles regularly. Until next time, See Ya!

Awesome article! Do you think there’s any chance for another Money in the Bank at WrestleMania?

I love the MITB match, but if it was going to happen, they would of already probably had qualifying matches on Raw or Smackdown. Since it also has it’s own PPV, I doubt it.
