New York Jets actively shopped Darrelle Revis at the NFL combine

With each passing week, it becomes increasingly clear that the New York Jets really do intend to trade cornerback Darrelle Revis.

What started out with a little bit of shock and awe turned into an active investigation at the NFL Scouting Combine.

According to the New York Daily News, the Jets spoke with several teams that are doing their due diligence on what they would need to do to get Revis under wraps long-term after such a trade.

Said trade would likely include as many as two first-round picks.

Thanks to Adrian Peterson, the stigma of the return from an ACL injury has been somewhat lifted.

This is especially true in the case of a superstar player who by all accounts has an incredible work ethic.

Revis is entering his last year of his current contract with the Jets and is in the position to become the NFL’s equivalent to Dwight Howard.

“We will always field calls and always have internal discussions about how we can improve our team day-to-day, position-by-position,” Jets GM John Idzik said. “That’s an ongoing process.”

Idzik most likely has already made up his mind that he won’t pay Revis the amount of money that his upcoming contract will merit.

In a new regime, Idzik has the opportunity to substantially upgrade his roster in one transaction.

Jets fans have a legit gripe with letting Revis go.

But they would have a bigger beef with letting him go for nothing in return.
