These are not your father’s Baltimore Orioles. Manager Buck Sholwater has transformed a team and a city with his positive stay-in-the-moment approach and has shown all of baseball that last year’s playoff run-the first since 1997 was no fluke. After years of being kicked around by the Yankees and Red Sox it is so refreshing to have a team that can compete day in and day out with the best teams in baseball.
The Orioles have also gained national respect and actually have players that may start, yes I said start in the annual All-Star game. this, after years of only sending the token one player. It has also been nice to have the home run leader on our team. As a life long fan who spent years just hoping they would be competitive and enduring the annual season end nose dives it is so nice to come home after a long day at work and root for a team that has a good chance of winning each night. The games they do fall behind these Birds have shown that they are never out of a game and have had many come-from-behind wins along with a few walk-off home wins. After years of heartache, it is soo refreshing to have a team that can play.
