Over the past couple of weeks, TNA Impact has been through the mill with a lot of talk about how the company is scrambling, and they look like their in deep trouble, and one thing that I think isn’t helping TNA elevate is their booking of the now New TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Sabin.
Sabin earned a chance at the TNA World title because he was the X-Division Champion, and was able to cash in the title for a shot against Bully Ray at Destination X.
He won… The long time X-Division star, Chris Sabin defeated the president of the Aces & Eights, and ultimate heel in Bull Ray.
So what TNA is expecting me to buy into is that Chris Sabin is better than Jeff Hardy, Sting, Samoa Joe, Magnus, and all the others who have tried to take the title away from Bully Ray. With Sabin winning this title, you are burring almost half your roster, and have hit a huge speed bump in the Aces & Eights storyline, which has grown stale over the past number of weeks. But I give props to TNA for trying to spice it up, but this wasn’t the way to do that. As much respect as I have for Sabin as a performer, and wrestler, I can’t seem to wrap my head around him as TNA World Champion. I understand the fact that TNA is looking to create a big comeback story, but it isn’t what they need right now. With the company in trouble, the last thing you need is to have the face of your company, and TNA World Champion be someone that the casual fan might not even recognize. Now I understand that TNA isn’t really for casual fans, but if they want to get more popular and viewers, they will have to cater to that group more.
I wasn’t a fan of Sabin beating Bully Ray, someone who has been built up to be this bad person, who does bad things, and is meanest, and most dangerous man in pro wrestling, to have him fall so easily to someone like Chris Sabin who is nothing more than an high flying X-Division wrestler.
You may not like what I am saying, but honestly, do you really see TNA going into Bound For Glory with Chris Sabin as the TNA World Champion. If you do, than you need some medication. I see Bully Ray winning back the TNA World title before BOG, and Sabin going back to where he belongs, which is the X-Division.
