Here some of the headlines making noise in hockey circles:


Anaheim Goalie John Gibson out 6 weeks with a groin injury

That means Gibson and Andersen are out, they might be looking elsewhere.  Gibson was sent down after a rough start to his first full year, and now this.  The Ducks might be alright, given their depth, but these two injuries do not help.


Oilers’ Defenseman Andrew Ference Suspended Three Games

Ference was suspended for his hit on Zach Kassian of the Vancouver Canucks.  He will lose $118,902 in salary.  He is eligible to return Sunday at the Rangers.


Oilers’ Star Taylor Hall out 2-4 Weeks with a Knee Injury

Hall was placed on IR after spraining a knee ligament crashing into the Vancouver net.  He has six goals and four assists through his first eleven games.


Kings’ Jordan Nolan Suspended 2 games for Boarding

Jordan Nolan boarded Darren Helm and received a penalty nearly four minutes into their 5-2 loss to the Red Wings.  Nolan will lose only $17,073.18 in salary, who has no points in ten games.


Predators’ Volchenkov Suspended 4 Games

Anton Volchenkov is suspended for his hit on Calgary’s Michael Ferland, an illegal check to his head.  He will lose $21,505.36 of his salary and has two assists in 10 games.
