Reflecting on the news, Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive of Manchester City, declared:
“We are very excited about the game against Toronto FC.
“We know from our visit to Vancouver in 2011 the passion for the Club which exists in Canada.
“We have a very active supporters group in Toronto, and are looking forward to bringing our team to showcase their talents to our fans there.”
Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko echoed the sentiments, stating:
“We are very excited to play Manchester City at BMO Field this season.
“Hosting a club like Manchester City is a great opportunity for our players to compete against one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
City finishes its Premier League season on May 24 against Southampton. TFC has home matches versus the Portland Timbers on May 23 and San Jose Earthquakes on May 30, so the Reds won’t have to travel between any of the games.
