According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have agreed a €34 million (£25m) deal for PSV playmaker Memphis Depay.
Depay has scored 20 goals in the Eredivisie this season, more than any other player, and he has also created 54 chances. His superb form has helped PSV to win the title for the first time since 2008 with three games still to play.
Depay is the Eredivisie’s top scorer
The 21-year-old has attracted attention from a number of Europe’s big clubs, but United have always be favored to sign the Dutch international, who was part of Louis van Gaal’s World Cup squad last summer where he scored two goals and registered one assist during 177 minutes of action in Brazil.
According to the Dutch magazine Voetbal Internaional, as reported by the Star, United have reached an agreement with PSV on the transfer fee. While they have yet to agree terms with the player, though that appears to be a formality, the newspaper claims.
PSV technical director Marcel Brands has previously confirmed that United have registered their interest in Depay.
“We had a telephone call from them (Manchester United) about him.
“There are several clubs that have expressed an interest.”
United were slow to sign players last summer, but that appears not to be the case this year as van Gaal wants players signed early so they can participate in the club’s North American tour this summer.
