BU announced its 2019-20 home schedule of 18 games including 12 Hockey East games, five non-conference match-ups and a mid-season exhibition game to be played at Walter Brown Arena. The home-opening weekend brings Northern Michigan in for a pair of games for the first time since 1988. The other out-of-conference home games are against Sacred Heart, Harvard and Brown, while the December 29 exhibition opponent is Concordia.

With a new cycle of the conference unbalanced schedule beginning, the Terriers, led by captain Patrick Curry, will see early season visits from defending regular season champion and Frozen Four finalist UMass and New Hampshire.  Rival Boston College doesn’t visit Agganis Arena until Feb. 29.

Looking ahead

Huge Congrats to U16 forward Quinn Hutson on his commitment to Boston University. Great kid and family. Unreal work ethic and character. Two way forward who can score at an elite level. Raised the level of our program every day on and off the ice. #avsfamily#strengthinnumberspic.twitter.com/6iO3XPvmJl

BU continues to fill out future recruit classes, with right-shot forward Quinn Hutson giving the Terriers its third commitment from this year’s nationally-ranked North Jersey Avalanche 16U squad. Hutson is the older brother of 2022 recruit Lane Hutson, a defenseman with Honeybaked’s Bantam Major AAA team who committed this past December.

A 5’10″ Illinois native, Hutson frequently played on the Avs top line with 2021 recruit Jeremy Wilmer and 2022 recruit Devin Kaplan, scoring 34 points in the Avs’ 22 AYHL games and 27 in 25 Tier 1 EHL contests.  Including North Jersey’s HPHL, Beast Series and USA Hockey Nationals games, his overall line was 68-42-110, with particularly strong numbers during the second half of the season.

Previously, Hutson played for Team Illinois and participated in the World Selects Invitational in 2017 and 2018.  Quinn’s and Lane’s father, Rob Hutson played for the University of Illinois-Chicago Circle in the early 1990s. Quinn is expected to play junior hockey next season.
