Another day another extra inning walk off home run for Sir Albert against the Cubs and the Cardinals sweep the Cubs at Busch Stadium.
What a series for Pujols, 4 HRs including 2 extra inning walk off home runs the last 2 games. Needless to say Albert is HOT!!!
Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter pitched an outstanding 9 innings but was unable to get his second win. Carpenter has been pitching well in just about every game and not getting wins but the wins will come for Carpenter.
Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano also pitche a strong game but some timely hitting off of the Cubs’ relievers allowed for the extra inning win going to the Cardinals for the second game in a row and the Cardinals sweep the Cubs at home in Busch Stadium. The Cardinals are now eleven games over .500 and 2 games up on the second place Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central.
The Cards have a day off Monday and will travel to Houston to face the Astros on Tuesday with Jake Westbrook, 5-3, going against Houston’s Brett Myers, 2-4.
As hot as Albert Pujols is right now, the Astros may consider pitching around Albert as Pujols traditionally hits incredibly well at Minute Maid Park.
