Just a week ago, the St. Louis Cardinals were starting to look like the team to beat in the NL Central. The Birds had just swept the Chicago Cubs, and looked very impressive in doing so. Then the Cardinals went to Houston and beat the Astros 2 out 3 games and did so with some very impressive timely hitting and good playing.
What a difference a week makes.
The Cardinals were just swept in Milwaukee and knocked out of 1st place and now have been beaten by the Washington Nationals the first two games in Washington.
What is going on???
Bad pitching, bad hitting, bad fielding…BAD BASEBALL!!
Not only have the Birds lost the first two games of the series in Washington, but, they have looked terrible in doing so.
At times, their fielding looks like amateurs and their pitching, specifically their relief pitching is not at all what is needed to win a division. Now, even their bats are showing signs of fatigue.
Maybe the amount of injuries to key players is what is finally showing as the Cardinals have had a number of AAA Memphis Redbirds called up and have done an admirable job for the most part, but, now there seems to be issue of are these guys ready to play consistent baseball on the major league level??
Remember, it is a long season…
