Big win for the Birds as they beat the Brewers in Milwaukee in a heated contest. The Cardinals/Brewers rivalry is shaping up to be a good one as the Brewers have really made themselves a formidable team and probably the team to beat in the NL Central.
The usually mild tempered Yadier Molina got a little caught up in the heat of the contest and was ejected by home plate umpire Rob Drake for
arguing a call and may face a suspension.
This is never a good idea on any level of baseball.
The umpires are impartial and they are human. Umpires do make mistakes, but, good sportsmanship is paramount on any level of baseball.
In the amateur men’s league that I play in here in St. Louis, and the leagues that I umpire in, arguing with the umpires is not tolerated and
is considered very bad sportsmanship.
Unfortunately, there are those that think that they are deserved of special attention and that they know better than the umpires so they make an ass of themselves. Too bad. This makes everyone in the league look bad and is not part of the game. If you are a pitcher, and you don’t like a call, move on and adjust, otherwise you are just not a pitcher. If you are a hitter, same thing, adjust and move on, don’t make a spectacle of yourself by dropping your bat at home plate and acting like a spoiled brat with no
class and no clue.
This happened just last night in the contest between my team(Paradigm) and the Sharks.
In fact, a local radio personality and self proclaimed baseball player and enthusiast(let’s just call him by some initials…JC) acting like a
fool and an ass AGAIN by doing just as I have mentioned. He pouted on the mound like a little
child that does not get his way and he DROPPED HIS BAT after a called strike at the plate. BAD BASEBALL….VERY BAD SPORTSMANSHIP!!!! Get a clue. If you ARE
a baseball player, at any level, play ball and SHUT UP!!!
I guess it was the shelling that we gave him that
made things a little too much for the simple minded so called ‘baseball player’ or ‘just a guy that can throw a ball’ as he states it. The ironic
thing about all of this is that he is a personality on a sports talk show. Some people just don’t get it.
Anyway, the Cards and Brewers play again in a day game with newly acquired Edwin Jackson making his second start for the Birds and Randy Wolf(7-8) starting the game for the Brewers.
The Cardinals are off to Florida for a weekend series with the Marlins and then back home to meet the Brewers again.

Molina tossed/Cards win

Molina should have known better, he is a catcher, and that pitch was called a strike all night. There was absolutely no reason to react that way.
Jason-
Excellent point. Although maybe the Cardinals had not been getting that call or
at least Molina did not think they were getting that pitch called a strike.
