What a great night of fights!  UFC on Versus 5 proved to be a memorable show that featured the resurgence of a former champion (Ben Henderson) and the farewell to an underrated great (Chris Lytle).

I highly recommend checking out the replay of this show if/when Versus broadcasts it.

As for our Roundtable competition, Stephen Schlegel takes care of business like he was never gone, defeating your’s truely via tie-breaker.  Congratulations Stephen!

The full results are as follows:

Stephen Schlegel     5-2     (WINNER)

Chris Bragg     5-2

Larry Cassano, III     3-4

Joshua Heizer     1-6

Be sure to catch The Ultimate Fight Show this Saturday at Noon ET, as Larry and I will recap this show in greater detail, review the controversial Boxing Match between Abner Mares and Joseph Agbeko, look ahead to UFC Rio (134), answer the Question of the Week, and take your calls about whatever is on your mind.

On to the picks!

Ed Herman vs. Kyle Noke

Joshua – Kyle Noke by Decision

Stephen – Herman via 3rd Round TKO

Larry – Ed Herman

Chris – I look for “Short Fuse” to win this one with a TKO.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Eddie Wineland

Joshua – Eddie Wineland by Decision

Stepehen – Benavidez via Unanimous Decision

Larry – Joseph Benavidez

Chris – I’m a big fan of Wineland, and he is always game for a tough scrap.  But Benazidez is the superior fighter, one of the top Bantamweights in the world, and he will win a Decision.

C.B. Dollaway vs. Jared Hamman

Joshua – CB Dollaway by 1st Round Submission

Stephen – Dollaway via 1st Round TKO

Larry – CB Dollaway

Chris – C.B. showed a lot of promise coming out of The Ultimate Fighter, but I can’t say that I have been overly impressed with him.  He’s the favorite here, but I’ll take Hamman with the upset KO.

Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah

Joshua – Sadollah by Decision

Stephen – Sadollah via Unanimous Decision

Larry – Amir Sadollah

Chris – Ludwig has been very inconsistent lately (2-3 in his last five fights), and I expect Sadollah to
continue his impressive run.  Amir by Decision.

Donald Cerrone vs. Charles Oliveira

Joshua – Cerrone by 2nd Round KO

Stephen – Cerrone via 2nd Round Submission

Larry – Donald Cerrone

Chris – This fight has fans excited, and it should.  Two of the most exciting fighters in the business should bring the goods in what could be a Fight of the Year candidate.  I’ve got “Cowboy” Cerrone winning a close Decision.

Ben Henderson vs. Jim Miller

Joshua – Jim Miller by Decision

Stephen – Henderson via Unanimous Decision

Larry – Jim Miller

Chris – I mentioned how great I think the Cerrone/Oliveira fight is going to be, but I am personally looking forward to this fight the most.  With a win, Jim Miller sets himself up for a Lightweight Title shot.  Ben Henderson, who very well may be a contender with a few more wins, could spoil everything for Miller.  I don’t think so.  Jim Miller wins a Decision.

Dan Hardy vs. Chris Lytle

Joshua – Dan Hardy by 3rd Round KO

Stephen – Chris Lytle via 2nd Round Submission

Larry – Dan Hardy

Chris – While not great, Chris Lytle’s wrestling is good enough to take down and control the Brit.  Hardy has been working a lot with Roy Nelson on his wrestling defense, but I don’t think it will be enough.  Chris Lytle by Decision.

Let’s look at the favorites one more time:

Ed Herman     3-1

Joseph Benavidez     3-1

C.B. Dollaway     3-1

Amir Sadollah     4-0

Donald Cerrone     4-0

Jim Miller     3-1

Dan Hardy/Chris Lytle     2-2
