The Baltimore Orioles began a nine game road trip by taking two of three from the Los Angeles Angels at Angels Stadium.

The O’s responded well after previously losing their first home series against the Seattle Mariners.

After winning the first two games of the series the Birds were poised for a Sunday Sweep.

Unfortunately , the Angels had other plans, winning the final game of the series, 10-2.

A five run third inning doomed Oriole’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez. He allowed eight hits, six runs and walked three and struck out three in 5.2 innings of work. He has struggled lately and has a record of (2-5) and an ERA of 6.04.

The Orioles rallied to make it 6-2 in the seventh inning behind Jonathan Schoop’s eighth homer, a two-run shot but the Angels came back with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to put the game away.

In the first game of the series, a 9-4 Birds victory, the Orioles rode the long ball to victory as well as a franchise record.

With homers by Mark Trumbo (13) Manny Machado (12) and Chris Davis (10) this marked the first time in team history that three players have 10 homers and 25 RBIs in the first 40 games of the season. The trio have helped the O’s hit 62 bombs, the most in baseball.

To make it even better, rookie Joey Rickard hit his first lead off homer and Machado followed with his home run making it the eighth time this season that the O’s have gone back to back.

To the Angel’s credit they tied the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning but Davis hit a two-run shot in the seventh to give his team the lead for good.

Rickard, Davis, Trumbo and Nolan Reimold each collected two RBIs for the Orioles.

Meanwhile, Oriole’s starter Mike Wright allowed five hits, four runs while walking three and striking out three in 5.1 innings of work.

The bullpen came in and allowed two hits with reliever Mychal Givens winning his third game of the season.

The Orioles were down 1-0 in the middle game of the series when catcher Matt Wieters stepped to the plate. He proceeded to give himself a birthday present in the form of a three-run come-from-behind homer in the top of the ninth inning with Davis and Reimold aboard to give his team a 3-1 feel-good victory.

Starter Kevin Gausman allowed eight hits while striking out six. He walked one and allowed one run in 6.2 innings of work.

Closer Zach Britton came in to record his 12th save of the year.

The Orioles ended the series with a record of (26-16) and are currently battling the Boston Red Sox for first place in the A.L. East Division. They now head south for a three game series with the Houston Astros.
