Serie A 2020-21 Fixtures Released

Soccer Section September 3, 2020 0

The 2020-2021 Serie A fixtures list has been released and Andrea Pirlo’s first league match in charge of Juventus will be at home to Sampdoria as he looks to guide the club to a record 10th successive Serie A title.

Juventus start at home to Sampdoria before a daunting trip to the Stadio Olimpico to take on Roma. For Inter Milan, who look set to be Juventus’ toughest challenger for the title, they begin their bid away to newly-promoted Benevento.

The release sparked lots of interest in when Pirlo and Conte will go head to head but fans will have to remain patient with the first meeting not until January 2021.

Lazio, who at the time of the stoppage for the coronavirus pandemic found themselves a point adrift of Juventus, will look to make amends for their poor end to last season with their opener against Atalanta.

Inter finished a point behind Juventus last season and know they only have themselves to blame having been beaten in both matches they played against Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Juventus fell to seven league defeats under Sarri last season and those match-ups jump out for fans wary of Pirlo suffering a similar collapse in his first season in charge.

Away form was the key area of concern, losing six of the seven games on the road against Lazio, Napoli, Hellas Verona, AC Milan, Udinese and Cagliari.

Juventus travel to face Lazio in November before going to Naples and Verona in February as they look for a much more polished record in chasing Decimo.

Serie A Big Games
Important clashes are scheduled from week one as the season starts with a top four clash when Atalanta travels to Lazio on September 20, with Roma-Juventus already in Week 2 on September 27, when Inter host Fiorentina at San Siro.

Juventus continue with another big game at the Allianz Stadium in Week 3, when Napoli travel to Turin, as Inter face Lazio in the Italian capital on October 4.

The first Derby della Madonnina arrives in Week 4, as Inter-Milan takes place on October 18 and the return leg has been scheduled for February 21.

Napoli take on Atalanta in the same Week 4, whilst Simone Inzaghi’s Lazio host Juventus in Week 7 on November 8.

In between the two the Marassi lights up for the first Derby della Lanterna in Week 6 on November 1, with the return leg of Genoa-Sampdoria on March 3, 2021.

The first Turin derby will come on Week 10 on December 6, when Torino travel to the Allianz Stadium, whilst the second leg of the Derby della Mole has been scheduled for April 3.

Milan-Juventus is set for January 6 in Week 16, with the return leg on May 9, with Roma-Inter in Week 17.

We have to wait until Serie A Week 18 before Inter coach Antonio Conte faces his old club and title challengers Juventus.

In addition to Andrea Pirlo’s first game against Conte, the Derby della Capitale has been scheduled for the same penultimate Week of 2020-21, with Lazio-Roma on January 17 and the return leg on May 16.

Juventus finish the season away to Bologna on May 23, as Week 19 has the Rossoblu travelling to the Allianz Stadium.

Inter face Udinese in their last match, with the first meeting scheduled on January 24, as Milan host Atalanta, Roma face newly promoted Spezia and Napoli travel to Hellas Verona.
