The Washington Redskins dominated Oakland on both sides of the ball routing the Raiders 27-10 on national television much to the delight of the fired up crowd at FedEx Field.

Redskin quarterback Kirk Cousins led the offense very effectively going 25 for 30 for 365 yards and three touchdowns.

Running back Chris Thompson was his favorite target. He paced the Washington (2-1)  offense catching six passes for 150 yards and one touchdown. He also gained 38 yards on eight carries.

Meanwhile, the Redskins defense was spectacular, holding the potent Raider offense to 128 total yards. They were 0 for 11 on third down and the Redskins sacked Raider quarterback David Carr four times and intercepted him twice.

Numbers tell the story.

Washington won the time of possession battle 38:06 to 21:54.

The Redskins had 18 first downs to seven for Oakland.

Washington went seven for 15 on third down while Oakland never converted a third down in 11 tries.

The Redskins had 472 total net yards to 128 for the Raiders.

Oakland had 96 yards passing compared to 356 for Washington.

The Raiders rushed for 32 yards while Washington gained 116 on the ground.

The Washington offense jumped out to a 7-0 lead with 9:51 to go in the first quarter on a 22-yard pass from Cousins to Thompson, who caught the ball on the left side of the field and sprinted into the end zone.

In the second quarter Cousins threw an 18-yard scoring dart to Vernon Davis making the score 14-0 at the half.

In the third quarter Cousins hit Josh Doctson in stride with a beautiful 52-yard bomb which he wrestled away from the defender while running into the end zone increasing the Washington led to 21-0 with 10:47 to go in the third quarter.

After a Redskin fumble, the Raiders scored on a Carr to Jared Cook 21-yard touchdown pass making the score 21-7 with 4:00 to go in the third quarter.

Washington added a 23-yard field goal at the start of the fourth quarter to increase their lead to 24-7.

The Redskins again gave the Raiders a gift of a fumble on their side of the field but this time the Washington defense rose to the occasion and held them to a 22-yard field goal making the score 24-10 with 11:57 to play in the game.

Washington added a 28-yard field goal with 6:07 to go making the score 27-10 and allowing the Redskins to secure one of their most complete wins in years.

Samaje Perine, filling in for the injured Rob Kelley, led the ground attack with 49 yards on 19 carries.

Mack Brown came off the bench to gain 27 yards on six rushing attempts for Washington.

Davis, filling in for the injured Jordan Reed, caught five passes for 58 yards and one score. Jamison Crowder snagged six passes for 52 yards and Ryan Grant caught three passes for 31 yards for the Redskins.

Carr was 19 for 31 for 118 yards and one touchdown and two interceptions.

Marshawn Lynch was the leading rusher for Oakland gaining 18 yards on six carries. Cook caught four passes for 43 yards and one touchdown and Deandre Washington caught five passes for 24 yards in a losing effort for the (2-1) Raiders.
