baltimore-oriolesThe Baltimore Orioles, coming off of a rough road trip to New York, took two out of three from the Toronto Blue Jays at friendly Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

After going (1-5) against the Mets and the Yankees, the Birds used the energy from the home fans to get back on the winning track.

In game one of the series, a 5-2 Birds victory, the Orioles got home runs from Chris Davis (8) Manny Machado (6) and Adam Jones (6).

Meanwhile the Baltimore pitching staff recorded 13 strikeouts with starter Ubaldo Jimenez punching out nine Toronto (17-18) batters while surrendering two walks and two runs in seven innings of work. He now has a (3-2) record with a respectable ERA of 2.41. Closer Zach Britton came in to earn his seventh save of the year.

In game two of the series, the Blue Jays were powered by two homers from Edward Encarnacion on their way to a 10-2 shellacking of the Orioles. The game was tied at 2-2 until the seventh innings when the Jays scored four runs and then scored four more in the eighth inning to secure the victory.

Orioles starter Chris Tillman (2-5, 6.34 ERA) gave up five runs while striking out four and walking one in 6 2/3 innings of work. The bullpen also surrendered five runs which allowed the Blue Jays to pull away and earn the victory.

Jimmy Paredes led the offense going 1-4 with two RBIs, while hitting a sizzling .357. Third baseman Machado went 3-4 including two doubles.

In the series finale, a 6-1 Birds victory, the Orioles rode the arm of starter Miguel Gonzalez who struck out five, walked three and gave up one run in 7 2/3 innings of work. His record is (4-2) with a 2.93 ERA.

Catcher Caleb Joseph went 1-4 with two RBIs while designated hitter Paredes went 2-4 with one RBI. Machado also knocked in one run. Reliever Darren O’Day picked up his first save of the year in a winning effort for the (15-17) Orioles.
