The Washington Football Team used a fourth quarter rally to whip the previously un-whipped Pittsburgh Steelers 23-17 at an unhappy Heinz Field.

Down 14-10 at the end of the third quarter, Washington outscored the Steelers 13-3 in the final quarter to secure their third straight win improving to (5-7) good enough for a tie for first with the N.Y. Giants in the NFC East Division race.

With 2:04 to go in the game, The Football Team’s Dustin Hopkins kicked a 45-yard field goal to give Washington a 20-17 lead.

Pittsburgh had a chance to tie or win the game but Washington’s Jon Bostic intercepted quarterback Ben Roethlisberger setting up another Washington 45-yard field goal and ending the Steelers 11-game winning streak and perfect season.

Washington quarterback Alex Smith went 31 for 46 for 296 yards and one touchdown.

The Steelers Roethlisberger finished the game 33 of 53 for 305 yards, two scores and one interception.

The total yards favored the Steelers 326 to 318.

Washington won the rushing battle 45 to 21.

Roethlisberger had two scoring passes in the second quarter while his defense held Washington to a field goal while taking a 14-3 halftime lead.

Washington responded with a third quarter one yard TD run making the score 14-10 and setting up the exciting Football Team fourth quarter finish.
