Effective today, January 25, 2017, Principal Richard Roth of Waynedale High School has informed our team at UltimateSportsTalk.com that we will no longer be granted access to attend home athletic events at the Waynedale High School campus. This comes as a result of recent on-air comments that the Waynedale Boys Basketball varsity head coach, Kevin Stacey, and members of the administration considered to be negative regarding the boys basketball program.
Dating back to 2014, our radio team has enjoyed a very positive relationship with the Waynedale coaches, players and staff. As a third party media outlet, we always seek to cover games neutrally and provide the best unbiased analysis for our fans and listeners. We take great pride in the on-air and web-based product that our staff delivers to our visitors and fans. Several of you reading this now have even written to us in the past graciously complimenting our radio team for our professionalism and quality coverage of the Golden Bears and other local teams in the surrounding area.
To our local sponsors, we greatly appreciate your support for our efforts and we appreciate your continued support as we venture on to cover other local high schools in the area. We are committed to continuing our coverage of local teams in an unbiased, neutral manner and delivering the highest quality coverage possible. Without your support, thousands of listeners would not have been able to enjoy this coverage over the last few years.
In the next 24-48 hours, you will begin to see a calendar of local events posted to promote the local sports events that we will be covering. Through our growth and success around the region, our team has developed strong relationships with members of the local communities and often received inquiries for our coverage of other schools. We now have an exciting opportunity to broaden our scope and begin covering other programs.
To the Golden Bears players, as a former Golden Bear I understand exactly what you go through day-in and day-out. It takes hard work and passion for the game to play a sport competitively and an even greater achievement for those that play multiple sports. It has been our pleasure covering your games and promoting each of you as outstanding student-athletes.
