The Washington Commanders beat the New England Patriots 20-17 for the first time at home since 1996 before a sellout crowd at Gillette Stadium.
The turning point in the game came with the Patriots driving with 30 seconds to go on the Commanders 41-yard line. Quarterback Mack Jones threw a pass to Juju Smith-Schuster and the pass bounced out of his hands and into the waiting arms of Commander Jartavius Martin. All Jones could do was hold his head in disbelief.
The game-winning interception allowed Washington to run out the clock as the Commanders improved to (4-5).

Not to be outdone Howell drove Washington 75 yards in 15 plays. Poised to get points at the New England 5-yard line he instead somehow threw the pass right to New England’s Kyle Dugger to end the Washington half on a sour note.
In the third quarter the Patriots added a field goal to make the score 17-10.
